A pair of solid platinum and star sapphire cufflinks.  This is a stunning pair of high quality and eye catching cufflinks.  This cufflink really represents a platform for the stones, set into each panel, to shine.  The thick, chamfered edge platinum panels are brushed to a mate finish on the tops so as not to distract the eye from the magnificent, sugar loaf, cabochon star sapphires.  

The back of the settings are left open to allow as much light as possible pass through the stones, and to display their unique properties.  Each sapphire is approximately three quarters of a carat each.  Each cufflink is set with approximately one and a half carats of this stunning stone.  Star sapphire is rare variety of sapphire that exhibits a rare asterism under specific lighting. When viewing star sapphire, a six-rayed star will appear to float across the surface of the stone. Star sapphires contain unusual tiny needle-like inclusions of rutile.  

Despite the size of the stones, these really are cufflinks that can be worn in the office.  They are quite simple overall in design, and are not a pair limited to evening dress.  They date circa 1930's, and were made in America.
